Be
prepared for a fabulous array of instruments from contrabassoon
to congas. Exciting arrangements, great
musicianship and infectious energy typify the performances
of Zoox in a show which is guaranteed to entertain and enchant. “An
instrumental three-piece.…with fiddle, soprano sax
and percussion.
Many of the tunes are their own and the sax
lends them something of a Balkan air (to these ears anyway)
while tunes that start off Irish often end up somewhere else
entirely.
The small line-up lets you hear the inner
workings of the music in a way that bigger ensembles can often
obscure.
So nice to hear tunes that aren't all about
extreme speeds and displays of virtuosity, they just do what
it takes to
make the music work.
