Musical friends have gradually
joined, and although they still sometimes perform as a duo,
the Night Owls now usually work as a five or six piece band.
The line -up of the band is often flexible with an emphasis
on improvisation and spontaneity.
The Night Owls’ repertoire
consists of a mixture of Classic jug band songs from the 1920’s
and 1930’s, Bluegrass, Country Blues, Skiffle music from
the 1950’s together with jigs, reels, hornpipes and polkas.
As The Night Owls say ……“Jug Band Music is
beautiful, but primitive music, but it suits us well as we’re
a fairly primitive group of musicians.”
The Night Owl
Jug Band have played at folk clubs, pubs, and a variety
of social functions such as birthday celebrations and weddings.
With their latest line up, they did a cracking performance
in The Millers Bar at the 2007 festival which we are
sure you
enjoyed if you were there, or will be delighted to hear
if you missed them.
