Jackie Oates and Ed Rennie

Jackie Oates and Ed Rennie

Ed was best known as the melodeon player in The Bismarcks for a long time, but is now building a parallel reputation as a fine singer.

His material is drawn from a broad range, ancient and modern, English and borrowings from further a-field.

The songs are of a wide variety and though there may be slayings and sorcery, there are also love and laughs.

All of life is there.

Jackie moved to Devon in 2001 to study English at Exeter University, she sought singarounds & music sessions and awakened a love for traditional ballads and songs.

Naturally Through sheer frustration at her inability to play the guitar, she began fiddle-singing.

Rising in stature, she became a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award 2003.

Jackie regularly appears at folk clubs in a number of guises ( as a solo artist, with The Jackie Oates Band, Rachel Unthank & The Winterset etc).

She can also be seen at major festivals, both as a performer and workshop leader with Shooting Roots and Spinningpath Music Workshops.

Together these two become an awesome duo !
